As the work has started on the inside now, focus moved to the kitchen. We’re taking out two cupboards to widen it, adding patio doors and knocking through to a utility room in the extension.
This required full scale annihilation of half of the kitchen.
Thankfully, the builders were able to set up a semi-permanent wall to cut down on mess (probably also to shield our eyes from what has become of our dear kitchen).
Unfortunately, the builders uncovered a bit of an oversight on the part of the architect as one of the cupboard walls that was due to get demolished was actually a load bearing wall. Doh indeed. A few phone calls were made to ‘the boys’ and an H beam was constructed in speedy quick time. This was installed today and allows us not to worry about the bathroom ending up in the kitchen. Which is nice.
They also had to knock through to our living room, something we weren’t expecting. Gives us an excuse to redecorate though.
Before all this happened though, the back door finally realised what was going to happen to it.
